How I painted a vase; how do you paint a vase?

I did it; I painted a vase. People have done acrylic pours, but no one seems to hand-paint vases. I changed that. I got my paintbrush out and painted a wooden vase all by hand. Now, it’s a beautiful, blue vase with a golden trim. I’m going to tell you how to hand paint a vase.

Or, watch me paint a vase:

First, I got a wooden vase from hobby lobby (or amazon). You could probably use a glass vase, but I would suggest a wooden one, because that’s what I used. You can buy a wooden vase here:

*I couldn’t find any exact matches to my vase, so I gave you multiple choices.

The next thing I did was to sand off any stickers or non-smooth spots.

Then, I used white paint (or gesso) to paint a base layer on vase.

Next, I painted my design on using acrylic paint. This is the fun part.

Lastly, I added a layer of mod pudge for protection. This last part is very important. If you don’t add mod podge, the paint will scratch and rub off. I know your vase probably won’t be rubbing against a lot of stuff, but it will rub off on the bottom, and ANYTHING that rubs against it will scratch the paint. Mod podge is VERY IMPORTANT! You can buy it here:
